AFTER A LONG BREAK

As usual a great deal of time has passed since there has been a post on this blog.....my bad.

I thought I recently received an email about keeping up with the blog, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.  BUT it did make me think I should give this a whirl again.  I read so many blogs and find them interesting....most about food or yarn LOL.  Either of which I have enough knowledge to blog about.  Life seems mundane enough that it wouldn't spark interest to anyone I don't think.

My oldest grandchild just left for Los Angeles CA for a year of dancing at the Edge School of Performing Arts.  I am so excited for her and what lies ahead, but my heart aches in her absence.
I have 18 years of packed memories stuffed into the treasure chest of life and I will miss her terribly.
Her Mom (my daughter) says we will make sufficient trips out that way, so I look forward to that.

I had her brother Luke with us (DH & I) for the past few days while the parents of said grand spent a few last days with her out in LA - getting her car picked up from the shippers, and familiarizing her with the driving route to and from school. It's been a busy past few days and I am super tired, so I am closing for now and hopefully can post again tomorrow.

Week In Review

Well, here is Sunday ( a new week ) so I'll just review the week past.
Maybe, then, I can keep better tabs on my blogging venture LOL!!

It was a busy week - connecting with old friends and catching up.  I visited with an old roommate and her hubbie one evening and that was a visit well worth the time.  I chatted with my old buddy from the beginning of my embarkment on the journey of 'marriage'.  She moved about 19 years ago to AZ and I love catching up with her - her life is busy with twists and turns as always, and I am always amazed at her stamina in going with the flow of life.  I also ran into a friend who I mainly came to know through the wrestling program back in the days when my son wrestled, at of all places, the gas station!!  We both had places we had to be, so it was a quick hug and catch up on how many grandchildren we have, and a quick catch up on Everybody doing well? question and off we went!!
Then to wrap it all up, I ran into a former 'dance Mom' from the days of my daughter's dancing days at Stage Door!!  We did recognize each other and had a great catch up conversation.  Where did I have this chance meeting?  At the Parochial League Tournament of all places.  Her grandson is on my grandson's team at St Stephens.  At that same tournament, I caught up with another family that I spent many hours of wrestling hours together with - we enjoy the bleachers once again, only with grandson's in the program now.  Brought up a lot of "remember when" conversation and was fun to reminisce.

I did have a run to Maple Grove shopping area with my daughter, which included a lunch at Red Lobster, and of course, our shared volunteer duty with the salad bar at Epiphany School and lunch at Sammy's Pizzarea for brunch (yummy).  We had the great news of Luke's (grandson)  notification that he will be inducted into the National Honor Society :-)  VERY EXCITING.

And I must expound on the wrestling tournament.... Landon (3rd grade)  took 2nd place in his weight class - only taking a loss to a seventh grader.  I am so proud of him and so are his dad and grandpa :-)

Another BIG achievement of the week was my being able to send off the tax information to the tax man!!  Anybody that knows me, knows how much I detest the job of getting all the info gathered and entered for the accountant.  Next will come the worst part of it all  - making out checks for $$$$$ made out to the appropriate govt receivers.  blah

Well, if there were any other great events, they escape me for the moment, so I will bring this to a close.  I'm going to enjoy my cup of frothed caffee now!!

MARCH 2017 / TIME FLIES

I will start by stating:  I am a bad blogger!

I have such great intentions and then I guess life happens ..... or something.  So much happens in a year, month, and days.  Maybe if I act as if this is a journal and make it a priority before hitting the pillow at night I would do better??  Well, I'll start again and see where it takes me LOL - I won't recommend holding your breath to anyone.  I love reading other people's blogs and am always impressed at their dedication to posting each day.  There is a fellow I follow from Bayfield, and it sounds like he has intentions of moving as soon as his home sells.  I am sad about that because his blog gives me a little insight as to what is going on in the area that I spend a lot of time in during the summer months.  Funny how you get sucked in to blogs - I especially find I follow mostly food associated blogs.  On a rare occasion I follow someones recipe for something that sounds fabulous.  As in all recipes some are hits and some are sure misses.  Now back to my own agenda - I think it is a mixed bag of subject matter.  It is somewhat journally (sp) because I am usually updating what I've been doing at that point of time.  I love posting pictures (which is really frustrating at times!) and I really loved the time you could have music playing in the background.  Susan Branch has her musica
(LOVE) and another blog I used to follow had music playing in the background of her blog while you read. She was sooooo interesting and crafty actually; and then her blog went private.  I miss it!!
Of course, then you have the BIG bloggers that I love to follow :  Pioneer Woman, and Susan Branch; both successful women and so interesting.  Oh well, enough said on all that lengthy chat.

I guess I'll start with a brief overview of this new year of 2017.  We heralded in the New Year at the condo in Bayfield, with the Provo's and Johnson's.  It was a very festive occasion on New Year's Eve, spent at the Johnson's. Steve made a wonderful dinner - a Nicoise salad that was delicious!!  We rang in the New Year with champagne and good cheer.  We also were able to see Dan and Cheryl (who did not join us because of other plans with Marion).  They brought us a snowman and reindeer, made from birch or aspen wood by Dan.  Adorable!!!

January was cold but not much snow.  Mike is embedded in his coaching gig with wrestling.  My car died and Steve had to give me a jump and I had a new battery installed.  I also had the steering column replaced (recall).  And the refrigerator needed a repair - we'll see how long that lasts.

February 3rd I flew to Chicago with Emily and Amy for a dance competition/convention.  It was fun for me to go back to an area where family lived many long years ago (49 to be exact).  Cindy flew in to be with us and we just had a great time.  We really didn't leave the confines of our hotel much so we got in a lot of visiting.  Nephew Mark and his family came to watch Emily dance on Sunday afternoon and we walked to a restaurant nearby (Irish) for dinner and that was just a great time.  Mandie introduced us to French fries and gravy!!!

Renee Jordan's mom Edie passed away and Mike and I attended her funeral which was on Valentine's Day.  The service took place in a small town west of the City so we stopped at 6Smith restaurant for lunch on the way home and that was fun and delicious!!  (it's in Wayzata - we saw a car through the ice on Lake Minnetonka - a tow truck and police were assisting - it was close to the shoreline.  Just after the sheriff had gone on the news warning people to stay off the UNSAFE ice!!)
We watched the little boys wrestle a few times - Isaac has fizzled out and Landon is doing quite well-especially when he doesn't have to wrestle some older guy!!  His size puts him at a disadvantage most of the time (in my humble opinion).

We had a dinner with the Arendt's at Mancini's one evening which was great to catch up.  Also went to The Mad Hatter Tea House with Ruth and Barb P.  which was ok.  Ruth was NOT impressed with the food or the atmosphere especially.  Oh well, you can't win them all!!  LOL  Another fun event was the St Stephens Mardi Gras, which we attended with Steve and Angie.  It was really a fun night and Angie did a great job in the decorating of the event.

MARCH - ahhhh, long awaited March!!  Why you ask?  Well, a sister/daughter vacation trip to Florida!!!  It was a great break from winter and clouds of home - great bonding, beaching, shopping, and binging on 'This Is Us'!!  Even got in a few games of Farkle and Triominoes .  Got my Pina Colada at Crabby Steve's - a great little bar ON THE BEACH :-)  Beautiful white sand beach and emerald waters.

Now I am back home to dentist and eye appointments, and the usual routines.  Marilyn Anderson, the mom of Sue and Ron (Stage Door and now Northern Force) passed away and her funeral was this last Monday.  It was very melancholy and made me realize how quickly our lives really pass - LIVE EVERY MOMENT..is the message I took away.  On that note I will seize the day and hopefully keep better tabs on this blog LOL.  We shall see.......

BUSY DAYS

Well how time flies when your having fun.....THAT is for sure!  Let's go back a week.

Last Wednesday DH went off to the Lake to put the boat in the water and launch for Bayfield and 'Grappler' s dock at the marina.  I stayed back home so I could watch my granddaughter's competition dances, down at the Minneapolis Convention Center.  I had so much fun!!

Wednesday I was busy with my usual routine of chapel and lunchroom duty.  Thursday I waited for a plumber to show up, only to tell me that he didn't have the parts needed to fix my leaks, and the one he did fix started leaking again about an hour after he left.  grrrr  He told me his boss would contact me when he had figured out the cost to do the work that needed to be done.

Friday morning I met the girls early and we headed for the convention center for Em's solo dance.
She did a GREAT job, I am so proud of her.  She makes the dance look so easy and fun, yet professional.  She took a Platinum award for her dance ;-)  I have NO pictures to share because they weren't allowed by the Showbiz Competition company.  It was a beautiful day outside, and being that she was finished (until 5:30 for awards) we decided to go somewhere fun to eat outdoors.  We decided to go to Psycho Suzi's and that was a great choice!!

Then that evening I went to Steve's Birthday Party at McDuff's Golf Club and had another great time!

Saturday morning started off with an early (6:15) start.  Em had all 3 Small Group dances to do.
And I enjoyed every one of them!!  She is such a talented young lady and I love to watch her perform her dances.  I also love the teen small group she is in.  Since that was an early performance, she was free to be gone until her little's (groups she is an assistant teacher for) were to compete.  So, after the awards (all Platinum awards) we decided to once more go seek out some fun!!  This time we headed to

with Em & and her fellow dancer and friend N.  We had so much fun at this place!!  The food was fabulous, we played mini-golf, and rode The Danger!!

Sunday morning was also early - Em did her 5 Senior Group performances -
and then in the evening she and Luke did their Line and Production dances.  During their break, we joined Paul and Mike and went to the Hidden Haven for a great lunch (HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY)

Monday morning Isaac came at 8:15 to spend the day with me.  We had a great time playing and putting Lego's together.

I ended this week with a Birthday Bash for Luke, Emily, myself, Steve, and the true birthday for Paul and Landon.  Amy had us all to her house for presents and cake celebrating and then we headed to Osaka for a great and filling dinner.  It was a great time.

What could possibly be better?

OH - a Smores Frappacino for Mike and a Chai Tea latte for moi!!

Saturday, partly sunny and 43 degrees.   Spent the day doing some cleaning and sprucing up.
We decided to go the 'Good Thyme' for dinner.  We met some friends there and had them join us, which was fun to see them and catch up.  DH ordered the lake trout special and I ordered the meatloaf.  He had the butternut squash bisque (delicious) and I had the house salad which was also great.  It was a nice way to round out the day.   The best way to end the day would be to see some Northern Lights, bout I don't think that will happen tonight..

SUNSHINE

Friday, 4:45 p.m. Sunny 45 degrees - Bayfield WI.

We departed for "the Lake", "up North" a little after noon today.  We haven't been here since last
October so there is some Spring cleaning and restocking to do.  It was an uneventful drive up and we observed that the trees are just beginning to bud and the grass isn't green yet.  I'm hoping back home that my crab apple tree holds off blossoming until I get back.  And the sun was shining gloriously
back there also, so things should dry out a bit.

I brought some knitting with me and it felt good to have those needles going again!  I'm just finishing up with a dishcloth I had started a long time ago.  I hopefully will have it completed for Mother's Day.

I'm sipping on a cuppa gingerbread flavored coffee and looking down at the marina - a few boats are moored to their docks!   Pretty soon all things here will be abuzz ~

RAINY DAYS

Thursday, 10 a.m. cloudy, showers and 39 degrees.

A little peek outside my window - the crab apple tree is just waiting to burst forth into it's pink beauty, and the flower pots on the deck table are probably water soaked!!  I need to get out there and move them to a drier (and probably warmer) location.

I had a great day yesterday serving the school kiddos from the salad bar - and of course, spending time with dear daughter.  It was a cloudy, cool, and windy day yesterday - although, there was about 2 hours of sunshine in the morning.  I was a little tired as I was out with the Crochet Club girls until after midnight the night before.  We had such a great time catching up since we haven't been together since January at Kathie S. new home.  We were all together this time except for Kathie who is on a grand vacation with her hubby, sailing on their way to Portugal and then spending 6 weeks abroad.  We are all anxious to hear all about her trip when she gets home.

I spent a good deal of time this morning looking into other people's blogs.  It is so interesting that so many of us take to the computer to share our thoughts, pictures etc.  Some have made their blogs into money making ventures, some add music, and so much more than my little chatter.  Oh well, sometimes I look at this as a little journal to look back on, albeit, not such a daily journal LOL.

Well, I must carry on with the day.  So far, I've frothed about 5 cups of java, talked with sister dear #3, and passed the morning hours away.  So carry on................
